From My Free Newsletter: Dec 29, 2024
I just launched my "inner circle" offer for Precision and we did $100k in two days.
The early days of business are some of my favorite.
This is the mindset I'm building Precision with - and how I plan to scale it into the future.
I'm hiring maniacs (not specialists)
Most people hire specialists. I hire maniacs.
What’s the difference?
Specialists stick to their lane. Maniacs build the road.
Specialists wait for direction. Maniacs ask, “What’s next?”
In the early days of a business, I need people who are obsessed with solving problems — regardless of their job description.
They want to work. They want to learn. They want to win.
They care less about work agreements and more about building the damn thing.
I'm watching our chain reaction from day 1
Every business is a series of dominoes. Push the right one, and everything else falls into place.
For example:
Get attention → Generate demand → Close sales → Deliver value → Create social proof → Repeat.
I'm watching the entire chain reaction with my team — and how each part impacts the next.
From day one, I’m asking:
Where are the bottlenecks?
What’s holding us back?
Which domino needs a nudge?
(Facts are facts. We can't afford to be afraid of them)
When you fix the chain, growth becomes inevitable.
Here's the scorecard I'm using.
I'm prioritizing customer success above everything else
A happy customer will do more for your growth than any marketing strategy.
So I’m obsessing over:
Activation: How fast can customers see their first win?
Retention: What makes them stick around?
Advocacy: How can they become our loudest cheerleaders?
Everyone on my team is a part of customer success - that's non-negotiable.
I'd rather charge more - spend more time helping our customers win - and get to single-digit churn… than play a game of quantity.
When your customers win, your business wins.
This is how I think about customer success.
I'm treating my calendar like it's a Pez dispenser
Normally, I guard my calendar like it’s gold.
Every call has to justify its value. Every minute has to earn its place.
But right now I’m doing the opposite.
I’m ruthless about finding space to talk to my customers (and potential customers)…
Nothing grows a business faster than conversations with my customers - the more I can learn about them right now, the better chance this business has of winning.
I'm not acting bigger than I am
I hosted a free workshop a few weeks ago - and me and my team individually reached out to all 200 people who were registered.
We could have just created an automation…
But we're not gonna act big when we're not big.
Our competitive advantage is - and will always be - how well we serve our customers.
If we can individually reach out to every single person… then we're damn well going to.
Building a business is messy, fast, and full of hard choices.
But with the right mindset - and a willingness to do the unscalable - you create something bigger than just a company.
This is how I’m building Precision.
Maniacs. Momentum. Relentless focus on customer success.
Because the foundation we lay today will determine how far we go tomorrow.
Let’s get to work.
